Yoga for Un-Bendy Bodies: The 10 week course for complete beginners

  • stroud yoga space 26 Nelson Street Stroud, England, GL5 2HH United Kingdom (map)

Always wanted to try yoga but didn’t think you were bendy enough (or thin enough, or young enough, or owned enough lycra etc.)? This is exactly what you need!

A totally un-scary introduction to yoga; learn how even the un-bendiest of bodies can build a practice, and all the positive benefits this ancient way-of-living can have for our crazy modern lives.

Come join the friendliest yoga gang in Gloucestershire at the beautiful Stroud Yoga Space. We start at 11.30am on Saturday 11th January.

This course of ten 60 minute lessons is a totally un-scary introduction to yoga. Together we’ll slowly learn basic yoga poses before exploring how they can be put into different combinations to make a ‘flow’.

We’ll also look at all the other ingredients which can take your time on a yoga mat from just bending your body to feeling all kinds of brilliant. We’ll learn how to use breath to work with your body (instead of against it), plus dive into some simple mindfulness practices to try and quieten that pesky mind.

PLUS you get to have a lovely lie-down and relax at the end. What’s not to love?!

Here’s what one of our 60 minute lessons might look like -

  • We’ll take a few moments just to allow ourselves to ‘arrive’ into the room. This is your chance to press the pause button on all the stuff going on in the rest of your life.

  • Sitting or lying however you comfortably can we’ll start to tune in. Just noticing our minds, our bodies, and our breath for a few minutes. It’s the equivalent of tuning our instruments before we start to try and play em!

  • Now we’ll start to move. Beginning with the basics, learning the most familiar poses in a yoga class. As the weeks progress we’ll keep building on previous lessons before we begin to feel a fabulous flow.

  • And finally we get to the best bit - a lovely lie down! Every class ends with a few minutes of some guided relaxation and the opportunity to rest before continuing your weekend.

Sounds amazing! What’s the cost?

For the course of ten hour-long lessons, the investment is just £100.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?

Real Life Yoga is all about helping real people bring a little (or a lot) of yoga into their real lives. Absolutely no prior bendiness is required, and this class is for total yoga beginners. But please note that there will be movements that take us from standing, down to the floor, and back up again. Whilst these will be incremental, gentle and slow if you have problems with these kinds of movements, learning yoga in a class scenario such as this may not be for you.

Please contact Meg to discuss if you have any questions or concerns.

If you have any serious medical conditions, or are recovering from any significant injuries or procedures, you should check with your doctor before starting any kind of new physical activity. This class is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant.
